CrossFit, Spinning, Yoga, Body Building, or Zumba, whatever it is that you choose to be your sport of choice is solely your decision. Putting down, and or criticizing what you don’t prefer= no bueno! The point is you got off that rump of yours from holding down the couch and channel surfing (or playing candy crush ;) I have had this debate a few times recently. I have listened to avid body builders put down and seriously question CrossFit, and vice versa-crossfitters criticize, and yet again seriously question different types of exercise. (Forgive me for saying) these stubborn and narrow-minded opinions about either being the ONLY form of effective exercise are simply untrue.  I am a proud CrossFit athlete, and feel extremely passionate about the sport; however, I am also a personal trainer, who believes very much in all activities, big, small, heavy, light, calm, or intense. You can, and will be fit and healthy by consistently staying active and eating clean. For some people CrossFit can be intimidating, training with a large group of people alone can scare many off the sport.  While for others, it’s the only thing that gets them motivated and inspired to workout.  Enjoyment is the key, finding happiness and excitement for exercise. Whatever it is the fuels that fire inside you…when you find that passion… keep it, use it, and pass no judgment onto any other form of exercise. Applaud those who are out there fighting for a healthier lifestyle. Praise them for trying something new and different.  If you can, I encourage you to try it all! Why not be a bad-ass crossfitter throwing heavy weights, climbing ropes, jumping on and off boxes AND at the same time be able to balance yourself, and increase your flexibility  in mind-blowing  yoga positions? When you have done that, jump in a spinning class, or try zumba, it’s ALL amazing therapy! Be the boss of it all; make yourself into a diverse human machine fit for life!

Hi!! I think it's about that time I introduce myself, my name is Kali.
I recently earned my degree in Advanced Personal Training and Exercise Science. I am officially, and may I say…FINALLY a NASM Personal Trainer and CrossFit level 1 Trainer. I have been working hard to reach these goals since August 2012. Going to school full-time while being an at home mom (I should mention I have three beautiful children) was single- handily my biggest challenge to date.  I thank God for my supportive and rock star of a husband, for which I would have fallen apart half way through.  I am excited, thrilled, and eager to begin my career in health and fitness.
Before the decision of going back to school, I was an instructor and manager of the aesthetics department at the Paul Mitchell School. I cannot put into words how much I loved that job, it was incredibly rewarding every day. I knew I wanted to continue to educate and help others, it is truly a passion of mine, but I wanted to go deeper than skin care and nutrition, I wanted to really change lives! I cannot imagine anything more important than someone’s health and happiness which is exactly where fitness lies. There was my ah-ha moment! I have always loved sports, being active, competing, and motivating people, so becoming a personal trainer was an obvious choice. I will be honest, prior to my education, I had no idea how much knowledge personal trainers obtain, or how hard they work. Shortly into my first semester I looked at husband and said “this is no joke, you literally have people’s lives in your hands”, I spent the next 18 months elbows deep in a sea of books, magazines, on YouTube, and picking the brains of personal trainers. I was determined to get all the information, and knowledge I could before entering into this amazing world of fitness.
While going to school you can imagine I was training like crazy, what better way to learn, than to do?! I boldly decided one day to sign up for Tough Mudder. The day of the event was one year from when I went into labor with my youngest. I was “fit” and I “worked out” 6 days a week, but I certainly wasn't ready for something like Tough Mudder. I was still working off baby-weight, but I knew if I had a goal, I was going to reach it. This is the moment I found CrossFit, and when everything changed. As I said, I was considered fit by “normal” standards, but man oh man…I sure as hell wasn't CrossFit-fit. Within a short amount of time, I was reaching goals I didn't think I would ever reach, and I was feeling confident going into the Tough Mudder event. I believe wholeheartedly I would not have felt that, or had the gains I did by continuing my normal everyday workouts. It was all thanks to CrossFit, and my outstanding trainer. I not only had great progress, I found a community, a family a people who all shared my same passion and excitement. There was no doubt in my mind, I wanted/needed was going to be a CrossFit coach! And so started my next adventure…find the perfect CrossFit box, get in, and make it your home away from home.  Much to my surprise I found just the place, and on my first attempt if I may say so ;) You know that moment when you find something and you think “ahhhh this is it, and it fits perfectly”? Well, those were my feelings when I walked into CrossFit Round Rock. Best of all, these feelings were coming from first glance; I hadn’t even met anyone yet. It took all of 10 minutes of talking with Landon and Adrien to confirm my initial feelings that this was in-fact the place I need to be coaching, the place to start my career, and the place where I can learn how to be an extraordinary coach.  I left the interview feeling extremely excited even without any kind of “yes, we will take you.” Before leaving, I grabbed a few business cards, raced home, put my name on them, and placed them at different spots in my home for me to see on a daily basis. I registered to my CrossFit Level 1 Training Course, and continued to stay in contact with both Landon and Adrien. It wasn't but a few days passed and they offered me a shadow/intern spot where I can train and learn from each one of the coached 5x a week! You can just imagine my excitement! I am reassured every time I walk into the box, go to an event, and shadow a class that I have made the right decision. The community at CrossFit Round Rock is incredible. Everyone matters, and no one is left behind. From clients to coaches you are loved, inspired, encouraged, and educated. It’s the perfect balance of bad-ass and super sweet, and I am honored to be a part of it!
I am now an elements coach, and anxious to work my way into coaching as many classes as possible. In the mean-time, I keep myself very busy working as a Physique and Accountably Coach, as well as in-home personal training. I am here to change lives, help every person to see they are worth it to be HAPPY, HEALTHY, FIT and STRONG!
